Local couple arrested, charged with child abuse after attempted drug purchase

WILMINGTON — A local couple is behind bars, charged with child abuse.

Wilmington Police say Harry and Kristine Harris were trying to buy crack in a bowling alley parking lot on Shipyard Boulevard with their one-year-old child in the car.

Police say the deal went bad and Mr. Harris got stabbed.

The Harrises called police to report an armed robbery. Instead, they were arrested for misdemeanor child abuse and filing a false police report.
