Local girls softball teams in the hunt for World Series

The Brunswick County All Star 16-18 year old squad is headed to the World Series – the Dixie World Series, after 4 days of undefeated play.

Prior to Tuesday night the East Columbus Ponytails thought they might be punching a ticket to the Dixie World Series as well, but they lost to Montgomery County 1-0. The loss eliminated East Columbus from the competition.

Burgaw has a solid Ten and Under squad. The Angels tangled with South Fayetteville and won 7-2. The victory puts the Burgaw team in the State Championship Finals on Wednesday. If they beat Montgomery County, Burgaw will get their World Series ticket punched as well.
