Local group seeks foster homes for service dogs

Many people rely on service dogs to help them get around, but those dogs have to be trained. That’s why a Southport woman is challenging her neighbors to step up and foster service dogs.

Carolina O’Brien is training Judah for Carolina Canines, an organization that provides dogs for people with disabilities.

When you foster a service dog, you keep it for about 2 years, teaching it basic commands and skills like turning on lights, loading a washer, unloading a dryer and retrieving dropped items.

O’Brien is trying to get at least two people from the Southport area to foster service dogs.

If you can help, call Carolina Canines at 910-362-8181.
