Local logging company makes national television debut
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Some locals joined together at The Pilot House to enjoy their national television debut.
The show “Swamp Loggers” has made stars of Jacksonville-based Goodson’s All-Terrain Logging. Now the show is highlighting Whiteville’s J.L. Powell and Company after they discovered old cypress trees in April when production crews were filming the hit show in Pender County.
The group celebrated in downtown Wilmington Friday and hopes the show will put them on the map.
“The opportunity to be on this show I just feel like it’s a great break for us and our little company and our employees are very excited about it,” said J.L. Powell & Company owner John Fisher. “We’re looking forward to hiring people and getting people back to work.”
The logs featured on Friday night’s show are between 150 and 900 years old and are believed to have been cut down a century ago.
