Local social web site adding members daily
A Wilmington social site is helping people connect on a local level.
Similar to popular global social networks like Myspace, Facebook, and Linkedin, you can blog, chat, and send messages at 3rdstreetplaza.com, but the big difference is, it’s all about this area.
3rdstreetplaza.com member Lisa Layman said, “I can actually blog and the information is more pertinent because it is within my own community.”
Lisa Layman is an active member of 3rdstreetplaza.com and she promotes her online dining business on the site. It seems to make her work much easier. “The average business person nowadays is updating constantly at least five profiles online and the 3rd street actually brings the Wilmington community to you instead of you having to go out and spend a lot of time trying to find individuals in the business community.”
Along with helping the business community, the site keeps members up-to-date with upcoming local events.
There’s a bit of a story behind the website’s name. 100 years ago, the community used to go to the corner of 3rd and Dock to socialize and network. It was known throughout Wilmington as the 3rd Street Plaza.
3rdstreetplaza.com is a modern-day version of the same concept. You can post pictures, upload videos, and join groups with your neighbors.
The website was launched just a few weeks ago and it already has nearly one hundred members.
The Wilmington community seems to be quickly catching on to a site that’s a great place to find a date, find a job, or find a friend.
