Long-awaited South Third Street work will be awarded in the fall
WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — The N.C. Department of Transportation plans to start replacing the old culvert under South Front and South Third streets in the fall.
Last year, a bidding process was canceled after bids came back too high.
It was not clear when the DOT plans to begin work on the project, but once it does, South Third will be closed between Carolina Beach Road and Willard Street for about six to nine months. The DOT hopes to keep South Front Street open during much of the construction, according to Brian Rick, a DOT spokesman.
