Long recovery for woman shot during broadcast

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — The husband of the woman wounded when a gunman shot and killed two TV journalists in Virginia says his wife will need about three months to recover.

Vicki Gardner, executive director of the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce, was being interviewed live Wednesday morning when an ex-WDBJ employee walked up to the reporter and cameraman and shot them dead.

Gardner’s husband says she has lost a kidney and part of her colon.
