Longtime Calabash seafood restaurant closes

CALABASH, NC (WWAY) — Just a year and a half after reopening, Coleman’s Original Calabash Restaurant has announced they are selling the business and will not reopen for the season.

Coleman’s was one of the first restaurants in Calabash. The family-owned business was opened in 1940.

In 2014, an electrical fire severely damaged the roof and front of the business.  One year later, the restaurant reopened after going through extensive repairs.

But now, after nearly eight decades, the restaurant will no longer be a part of Calabash.

The company posted a message on Facebook over the weekend, letting customers and longtime fans know that the business is being sold.

You will not have the chance to eat there one last time. The restaurant closed for the season in the fall and will not reopen.
