Longtime Wilmington Chamber CEO retires effective immediately
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The longtime head of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce has retired.
According to a news release from the chamber, Connie Majure-Rhett’s retirement is effective immediately “due to family-related reasons that require her immediate attention.”
Majure-Rhett joined the Wilmington Chamber as president and CEO in 1994.
“As business leaders, we know that the best decisions are sometimes the hardest ones to make. My decision to retire is one of the toughest I have ever made, but it is certainly for the best,” Majure-Rhett said in a statement. “Today, I can retire with confidence, knowing that the Chamber has never been in a better position, and that a team of capable, experienced leaders is at the helm.”
The chamber’s news release says day-to-day operation of the Wilmington Chamber will be handled by COO Faye Dunaway and chamber staff, with direction by 2016 Chamber Chairman Mitch Lamm, as an executive search process begins to fill the vacancy.
