Lottery pays big again in Brunswick County

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Someone who bought a Carolina Cash 5 ticket at a Bolivia convenience store in Brunswick County started the Fourth of July holiday by winning a $227,196 jackpot.

In a release from the North Carolina Education Lottery the agency said the winning Cash 5 ticket was sold at a lucky gas pump at the Middle River C Store on Old Ocean Highway. It matched all five numbers in Thursday’s drawing, beating odds of 1 in 575,757.The winning numbers were 2-16-19-36-38. The winner has 180 days to claim the jackpot at lottery headquarters in Raleigh.

NCEL says the win is the largest so far by lottery players using a new way in North Carolina to buy tickets for three lottery games, Cash 5, Powerball and Mega Millions. The new service, called Play At The Pump, allows players to purchase their tickets at the gas pump.  It is designed as a convenience for someone who wants to buy a lottery ticket but doesn’t have time to go into the store.
