Love where you live! Area beaches ranks top in state

SOUTHEASTERN NC (WWAY) — Another big national publication says some of the best beaches in the state are in our area.

U.S. News and World Report has announced its ranking of the best beaches in North Carolina.

They considered a number of things including scenic beauty, nearby amenities and the opinions of experts and travelers.

Bald Head Island ranks 3rd primarily for its golf club and mostly undeveloped shoreline.

Oak Island takes 7th place with its 60 public beach access points and two fishing piers.

Topsail Island ranks 9th for its three main beach areas and the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center.
