Lower gas prices mean more holiday fun
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — ‘Tis the season to hit the road, but this year as folks head home for the holidays, they’re not feeling such a hard hit at the gas pump.
Gas prices are lower than they have been in years around the holidays, and for those heading out of town, that’s a Christmas miracle in itself.
The holidays are always stressful, but this year’s holiday gas prices are a sigh of relief for many travelers. A gallon of gas is down more than a dollar from this time last year, and that means more folks are heading home for the holidays.
“I have to go all the way to Maryland, so it’s probably going to save me about a $100,” one driver told us.
And some extra cash in your wallet, this time of year makes a big difference.
“It’s definitely nice around the holidays, because you’re spending a lot of extra money on things that you aren’t normally,” another driver said.
So while you may still have some last minute gifts to cross of your shopping list, for some, at least, delivering those presents will be less stressful.
Prices this weekened were right around $2.50 in the Wilmington area, and folks said that savings can really add up when home for the holidays is hundreds of miles away.
