Make-A-Wish granted for 3rd sister in Brunswick County family
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina is granting another wish. It’s the third wish granted for one family. The youngest sister of three went to Disney World last year. The oldest sister of the three swam with dolphins the same year. This month, the very special girl right in the middle will have her dream come true.
“This is fun!” 10 year old Solara Olinger screamed as she swung on a swing at Defy Gravity in Wilmington.
She’s a hi-tech girl too. “My favorite thing,” she said,”is going on the computer.” But later this month, this energic Brunswick County girl sails off on a new journey.
“I wanted to go on a Nickelodeon cruise because I’ve never experienced it,” Solara said.
Friday, Solara’s wish party was held at Defy Gravity, sponsored by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina.
“People with disabilities like me,” Solara said, “whenever they get wishes, it makes them have a few days in their life that makes them a lot happier.”
Solara’s ‘happy’ will be on the Nickelodeon cruise she wanted to go on so very bad.
She’ll go courtesy of a donation from the owner’s of Monkee’s of Wilmington.
“It’s really sweet to see a child have their dream and wish come true,” Monkees owner DeeDee Shaw said. “Our biggest wish is for her to get better.”
Solara has a hereditary gastroinestinal disorder. But when her ship picks her up later this month, all her favorite characters from Nickelodeon will jump in with an ‘order’ made just for her.
“It just makes me feel happy,” a smiling Solara said.
Make-A-Wish officials say there are nearly 200 more children in the 49 counties of eastern North Carolina currently waiting for their one true wish. If you’d like to help out…check out their website here—> www.eastnc.wish.org <http://www.eastnc.wish.org
