Mallory Creek Drive extension finish date pushed back

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Work continues on the Mallory Creek Drive extension in Leland, and it looks like that work could take longer than expected to complete.

The town hoped the road would be finished by April, but Mayor Brenda Bozeman says due to weather it has been pushed back again.

She says she is confident that it will be open by June.

Once finished, the extension will connect Mallory Creek Drive in Mallory Creek Plantation with Rice Gate Way in Brunswick Forest by a traffic circle. It will allow emergency vehicles to reach the back part of Brunswick Forest with a better response time.

When the town announced plans for construction last summer, it hoped the work would be done by February.
