Mallory Creek Drive extension delayed

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The Mallory Creek Drive extension project is under construction, but it could take longer than expected to complete.

The Town of Leland hoped the road would be finished by April, but in a recent newsletter, Mayor Brenda Bozeman said excess rain may delay the project.

Once finished, the road will connect with Rice Gate Way in Brunswick Forest by a traffic circle and provide a direct route from US 17 to NC 133 through the two neighborhoods.

Officials say this will allow fire and rescue vehicles to reach the back part of Brunswick Forest with a better response time.
