Malpass Corner Elementary to remain closed all week

A Pender County elementary school will be closed for the rest of the week after a fire yesterday.

School officials have determined the damage to Malpass Corner Elementary School is too extensive to reopen this week.

Students were evacuated yesterday morning after a fire broke out in a boys’ bathroom. The missed school days will have to be made up.

The official cause of the fire has not yet been released.
