Man arrested for making fake bomb threat at CFCC
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for allegedly making a fake bomb threat at Cape Fear Community College Wednesday night.
According to a news release, New Hanover County dispatchers received a 911 text around 9 p.m. stating that there was a bomb in building “U”.
Deputies along with Cape Fear Community College Security personnel immediately evacuated the building, the release states. Once the building was clear of all students and faculty, deputies began their search.
Deputies say they found no suspicious devices after several searches of the building.
Basem Isa Darwish is charged with false report of mass violence on an educational property.
He is in the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $5,000 secure bond.
