Man arrested for shooting father after altercation

SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County man is behind bars after deputies said he shot his father.

Brunswick County Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Emily Flax said it happened on Sanders Forest Drive NW in Shallotte around 7 p.m. Monday.

Flax said Steven Ray Olive, 37, shot his father in the leg. The father was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

Olive is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He is in the Brunswick County Jail under a $40,000 bond.
