Man arrested in Market Street convenience store armed robbery

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a New Hanover County convenience store.

According to arrest warrants, 56-year-old Scott Christopher Rogers of Lake Lure was charged June 1 with robbery with a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed gun and misdemeanor larceny.

The charges stem from a May 22 armed robbery at the BuyQuick convenience store on Market Street.

According to the warrants, Rogers is accused of stealing approximately $477 in cash and a pack of American Spirit cigarettes from a store clerk while threatening the use of a semi-automatic firearm.

Court records show Rogers was served with the arrest warrant Tuesday. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday at 2 p.m. in New Hanover County District Court.
