Man arrested on drug charges in Columbus County

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A drug investigation in the area surrounding Central Middle School in Columbus County resulted in the arrest of a man on several drug charges.

Dan Maurice Gowans, 26, is charged with the following:

  • Sell/Deliver Cocaine within 1,000 feet of a School
  • Felony Maintaining a Vehicle to Keep/Sell a Controlled Substance
  • Two counts of felony Sell/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance
  • Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance.

According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, on March 16, Gowans was at the Hallsboro Courthouse located at 89 School Road in Hallsboro on unrelated matters. Gowans had an outstanding warrant for Assault on a Female, in addition to the outstanding warrants stated above.

Gowans was transported to Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center where he was processed and booked.

He received a $306,500.00 secured bond.
