Man charged after Columbus Co. shooting
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Investigators with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office say a man is facing charges after trying to attack his former girlfriend.
Deputies say Daquan Pridgen, 23, is facing charges including two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Deputies say on Sunday, Pridgen followed a former girlfriend to a home in the New Hope community, tried to remove her from the car and was confronted by another man at the home.
Investigators say Pridgen began shooting at the man, and the man returned fire; Pridgen was shot in shoulder and was later located at another home.
Another person in the vehicle with the former girlfriend was also grazed by a bullet.
Pridgen was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center with a $20,000 bond.
