Man charged in hit-and-run crash into thrift store


OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Oak Island Police say a man was cited in a crash that resulted in another vehicle driving into a thrift store.

It happened at the Thrift Store and More located on East Oak Island Drive Monday afternoon. Police say Mitchell Brandon Davis, 20, was charged with failure to reduce speed and failure to stop at a scene of an accident. They say his car suffered about $500 in damage and the vehicle that ended up in the building suffered about $2,000 in damage. The building’s damage was estimated at $5,000.

Police say no injuries were reported and the business was closed at the time.
