Man charged in statutory sex offense investigation

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Bladen County Sheriff says a man is facing charges including statutory sex offense after a three-month-long investigation.

Sheriff James McVicker says John Wayne Parks, 56, was arrested Sunday in connection with crimes with a teenager. Parks is facing one count of statutory sex offense on a 13, 14, or 15-year-old and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Parks was released from jail after posting a $102,500 bond.

McVicker said the arrest was the result of an extensive investigation that began on December 22, 2014.
