Man charged with killing girlfriend in Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. (AP) – A 42-year-old man already in jail on a domestic violence charge has been charged with murder in the death of a Burlington woman whose skeletal remains were found a year ago.

Police said Thursday that Rodney Enoch has always been a suspect in his girlfriend’s death, but they finally collected enough evidence to charge him. Investigators didn’t detail that evidence.

The body of 43-year-old Debra Sellars was found on Oct. 3, 2012 in woods in Alamance County. She had been missing since April 2012.

Enoch is in jail awaiting trial on a domestic violence charge in an unrelated case.

Authorities say Enoch was placed on probation after being convicted in February 2012 of hitting Sellars in the face with a frozen package of meat.
