Man charged with DWI in Snow’s Cut Bridge crash
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — One man has been charged in a crash that shut down Snow’s Cut Bridge for a couple of hours.
The crash happened around 8:45 on Saturday night.
Robert Kenneth Wooley is charged with driving while impaired, failure to reduce speed, open container, and careless and reckless.
According to the crash report from the NC Highway Patrol, Wooley was driving north on Snow’s Cut Bridge at around 75 miles per hour when he rear-ended a Nissan. The crash sent the Nissan into southbound traffic, where it hit a shoulder barrier. Wooley also crossed into southbound lanes and hit another driver head on, before rolling down hill.
Six people went to the hospital. No word on any of their injuries at this time.
