Man charged with shooting during alleged road rage incident
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man is out of jail after being charged overnight in connection to an apparent road rage incident in Wilmington.
WPD spokeswoman Linda Rawley says officers responded to a report of an assault around 10:35 p.m. at 2144 Echo Lane.
The victim told police he and the suspect were involved in a road rage incident. The victim said he was punched in the face and that the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired four times. Officer said they found four shell casings in the driveway.
Police have charged John J. Burney III with assault with a deadly weapon.
