Man convicted for drunk driving crash

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man pleaded guilty to a drunk driving crash that seriously injured two women.

Earlier this week, Raymond Heuring, age 52, pled guilty to two counts of felony serious injury by motor vehicle.

Heuring received two consecutive 17-30 months suspended sentences and 36 months supervised probation with a special condition that he serve an active term of 15 months in the Department of Adult Correction. He was also ordered a $500 fine and $1557 in court costs.

On August 10, 2013 Heuring was traveling on Highway 53 in Pender County when he collided with another vehicle. The other vehicle was occupied by four women, two of whom sustained serious injuries to their heads and bodies.

Members of the State Highway Patrol administered blood tests on Heuring, the results of which later revealed a .25 blood alcohol concentration.
