Man dies from injuries sustained in Wilmington car crash


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — 83-year old Robert John Davis, Jr. died over the weekend as a result of injuries sustained in a two vehicle crash last Wednesday.

Witnesses told Wilmington Police that Patricia Louann Cofflin, 57, was driving a van when she ran a red light at the intersection of Carolina Beach Road and George Anderson Drive, striking Davis’ vehicle around 12:40 p.m.

Cofflin, who turned herself in to authorities Monday, is being charged with Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle. She was released on a $50,000 unsecured bond.

Cofflin and a passenger in her vehicle were also treated for minor injuries at New Hanover Regional Medical Center Wednesday.
