Man dies while diving off Beaufort Inlet

FORT MACON, NC (AP) – The Coast Guard says a man died while
diving Tuesday off Beaufort Inlet.

The Coast Guard says the 60-year-old man was unresponsive when
he was recovered from the bottom of a 120-foot dive that took place
about 30 miles southeast of Beaufort Inlet.

The man was aboard the dive boat Olympus, which had contacted
the Coast Guard on Tuesday morning.

A crew member on the Olympus administered CPR and a Coast Guard
lifeboat crew with an emergency medical technician aboard also
responded.

The diver was taken to Carteret General Hospital in Morehead
City where he was pronounced dead.

The man’s name has not been released while relatives are
notified.
