Man facing charges after firing shotgun through apartment doors

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies say a Wilmington man is facing charges for firing shots through two New Hanover County apartment doors while people were inside, sparking a standoff with authorities Thursday night.

New Hanover County Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer says Dante Marshall is charged with one count of 1st degree kidnapping, two counts of discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling and two counts of breaking and entering.

Brewer says deputies responded to 2150 block of San Lucas Court in Lockwood Village Apartments for reports of shots fired. He says that’s where Marshall had broken into two apartments, firing a shotgun through the door of both.

Marshall held Mohommed Ba in his apartment for several minutes before returning to his own apartment, according to Brewer.

Brewer says Marshall locked himself in his apartment for several hours before coming out and surrendering to deputies.

Marshall is booked in the New Hanover County Jail under an $80,000 secured bond.
