Man found on yacht at Port City Marina charged with burglary

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police arrested a man early Monday morning after they found him on a yacht he allegedly claimed to own.

Police say officers responded to Port City Marina around 4:15 a.m. in reference to a burglary.

Police say they found Zachary Maditz, 32, of Leland on the second level of a yacht.

Police say Maditz claimed to be the owner and that there were people who did not belong on it. It was determined that the yacht did not belong to him and that he, in fact, was the one who did not belong on it.

He was arrested and taken to the New Hanover County Jail.

He is charged with first degree burglary.

He is being held under a $50,000 bond.
