Man jailed for child sex crimes charges

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A New Hanover County man is behind bars under a $1 million bond for child sex crimes charges.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sean Dell Johnson, 39, today. He was taken into custody on Division Drive.

Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer says the investigation into Johnson began two months ago. The victim is currently 16-year-old. The alleged assaults began two years ago, when she was 14.

Johnson is charged with Indecent Liberties with a Child and 1st Degree Attempted Sex Offense.

The Sheriff’s Office says more charges are likely.
