WILMINGTON, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — A Wilmington man named on the New Hanover County Sheriff’s most-wanted list for attempted murder surrendered to authorities Thursday.
Randy Ernest Prevedel, 54, was booked into the New Hanover jail on charges of attempted first-degree murder, assault by strangulation, second-degree kidnapping and a warrant for failure to appear.
According to Sgt. Jerry Brewer, in September 2011 deputies were called to Prevedel’s estranged wife’s home on Tesla Drive on a report of a battery. When officers arrived, they discovered the victim had been dragged by her hair and strangled into unconciousness by Prevedel, Brewer said. Prevedel was gone when police arrived.
