Man pleads guilty in taxi driver robbery

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man pleaded guilty to robbing a taxi driver.

Tyree Davis was sentenced to between 1 and 2 and a half years in prison. The victim, a driver for Kat’s Taxi, picked up Davis and was driving when Davis pulled out a gun and demanded money and a his cell phone. The incident happened in May of 2014.

Davis ran away but was traced through the phone number he used to call for a taxi. No weapon was recovered during the investigation.
