Man pleads guilty to murder charge

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man accused of hitting and killing another driver while running from a robbery pleaded guilty to murder Wednesday.

Lloyd Buffkin could spend more than 23 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Buffkin robbed a convenience store on March 22, 2012. As Buffkin sped away, he hit and killed Joye Campbell.

Campbell was headed home from a doctors appointment.
