WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — A Rocky Point man pleaded no contest last week in a 2013 boating wreck on the Northeast Cape Fear River in which his longtime girlfriend was killed.
Larry Scott Duncan, 46, was sentenced to 12 months unsupervised probation, with a suspended jail sentence of 30 days, after pleading no contest Thursday to a charge of reckless boating.
Duncan’s girlfriend of 18 years, Jennifer Lee Faircloth, 37 — with whom he has two children, was killed about 7:30 p.m. July 4, 2013, as the two headed to Wilmington to watch fireworks.
