Man rides horseback cross-country to help childhood hunger

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A few horses on the side of MLK Parkway Friday morning had some drivers thinking the animals were on the loose.

Actually, they belong to a man who rides horseback across the country to spread the word about childhood hunger.

This isn’t Doc Mishler’s first rodeo on his cross-country mission for the cause, but this time his two horses led him to make a pit stop off MLK Pkwy. to camp overnight.

“I listen to my horses,” Mishler said. “When they’ve gone far enough, it’s time to find a place to camp. And I’ve camped all different types of places. But people I meet across the country want to help, they want to give, they want to feed the hungry children.”

Mishler said it’s possible to feed all the hungry children. He says first, we must be the change we want to see in the world.
