Man robbed outside downtown Wilmington business

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating a robbery at a business downtown.

According to Tweets from WPD, officers responded to a robbery in the 200 block of 2nd Street before 1:00 p.m. Friday. Stephen Lilly said he was attacked and robbed across the street from the Western Union office. Lilly said he chased the man who took his back pack and paycheck to his getaway car.

“So I dove in behind him and it was just kicking, kicking and wrestling. You can imagine him trying to get my stuff, and I’m yelling the whole time, ‘Help.’ There’s a lot of eyewitnesses and everybody that saw, but they were able to kick me out of the car,” Lilly said.

WPD said the suspects are a white male and a black male in a black car that headed toward Market Street.
