Man sentenced in former girlfriend’s brutal beating released from prison

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Michael Hutton, the man sentenced in November to less than three years in prison in a brutal beating of his then-girlfriend, is out of prison tonight.

According to Keith Acree, a NC Department of Public Safety spokesman, Michael John Hutton Jr., was released today from the Polk Correctional Institution. Hutton was placed on a nine-month post-release supervision following the release, Acree said.

Hutton pleaded guilty in November to assault charges in the beating of Hannah Connaway. He was sentenced to between one and a half and less than three years in prison, but due to time already served, he was released today.
