Man shot in the face in Whiteville

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in Whiteville that sent one man to the hospital.

According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office report, it happened just before 9:30pm on Monday. 28-year-old Brandon Tyler Butler went to Camp Ground Road to give someone a ride, and was allegedly shot in the face by the person he was picking up.

Whiteville Rescue was called and Butler was flown to Novant NHRMC.

At this point, there is no word on the extent of Butler’s injuries, and a suspect is not in custody.

The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing.
