Man arrested for allegedly breaking into home, hurting woman

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County Sheriff’s detectives have arrested a Columbus County man wanted on several charges.

Elliot Ward Dew, 28, of W. Williamson Street, Whiteville, was wanted for assault on a female, assault inflicting serious injury and first degree burglary. Investigators say the crimes happened early Friday morning at the alleged victim’s home in Calabash.

According to a warrant, Dew is accused of pushing and shoving the woman to the floor. They say she suffered a concussion and a sprained wrist.

A sheriff’s spokeswoman says Dew was arrested Monday.
