Man wanted for Best Buy parking lot assault arrested

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Henderson man wanted in connection to an assault in the Best Buy parking lot last month is behind bars on an assault charge, according to the jail’s website.

Craig Griffin, 31, is in the New Hanover County Jail under $150,000 bond. Police took out warrants on Griffin back in December, after a pedestrian was hit by a car just before several shots were fired in the Best Buy parking lot on S. College Road.

Police said officers discovered several shell casings at the scene, and the pedestrian who was hit was taken to the hospital for leg injuries. Officers say they thought the incident stemmed from some sort of domestic disturbance after investigating.

According to the jail’s website, Griffin will have his first appearance in court for the assault charge today.
