Man wanted on child rape charges

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies are looking for a man accused of sexually assaulting a child.

According to a release from the Pender County Sheriff’s Office, Jorge Garcia-Cardena, 32, is wanted on charges including two counts of child rape, two counts of sex offense with a child and two counts of indecent liberties with a child. Deputies said the investigation began on February 10 when a 13-year-old victim filed a report.

Deputies said Garcia-Cardena is a self-employed sheetrock installer and works in Pender, New Hanover and Brunswick counties. They said he drives a dark blue Ford Explorer with NC tags and could be heading to Mexico.
