Man found guilty of raping elderly woman

WILMINGTON — The verdict has come down in the McAlliaster rape trial.

The jurors took about three hours to find Antonio McAllister guilty on all four charges, including first-degree rape, for a crime that happened two years ago.

McAllister still proclaims his innocence and tells his attorney he has never been inside of the victim’s house.

However, hairs found at the crime scene proved otherwise.

Three hairs, two of which were linked to his mother’s DNA and another hair which matched McAllister’s DNA were the only physical evidence the prosecution presented.

Other circumstantial evidence includes the fact that McAllister left for Florida shortly after crime and that he was within walking distance of the victim’s home at the time of the crime.

The victim, a well known woman in the Pender County area, Dora Corbett, says she’s just thankful for the community’s support throughout the trial.

Her family members say they’re happy to finally have justice.

McAllister received a sentence of 60 years. He will be eligible for parole after 50 years.
