Man’s body found floating in ICW near Figure Eight

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Deputies are working to identify a man who was found dead and floating near Figure Eight Island this morning.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says fishermen found the body south of the Figure Eight Bridge. They then contacted the Coast Guard.

Here’s the description of the man:

• White male
• 40-50 years old
• 180-200 lbs
• Grayish/brown hair with a beard and mustache
• Wearing gray long-sleeved shirt, black athletic pants with white stripe down the side of the pant legs
