Many gather in Downtown Wilmington for holiday tree lighting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Tonight more than a hundred people came out to see the downtown tree lighting ceremony.  The annual event brought smiles and cheers to adults and kids excited to bring in the Christmas holiday.

The event took place on Water and Princess street and included the Champions for Compassion Carolers, holiday market with vendors, tree lighting and more.

The event was free and members of the Downtown Business Alliance served free hot coffee and hot chocolate.
