Many back-to-school shoppers ready for tax free weekend

This weekend will be full of bargains for shoppers looking for a good deal. A statewide sales tax holiday kicks off Thursday at midnight.

Items such as school supplies, and certain clothing and electronics will be exempt from sales tax.

Target and Walmart are expecting huge numbers of shoppers looking to stock up, especially for back to school shopping.

A tax-free weekend sounds great to some, while others say they plan to stay home.

“It’s great, especially since the state sales tax is about to go up, so try to take advantage of it,” said Robin Burriss.

“I don’t mind paying the tax today because I just have one child and I don’t find that the savings is really worth fighting the crowds for,” said Angela Rigsbee.

You can save on the following items…

-Clothing, footwear, and school supplies of 100 dollars or less per item.
-School instructional materials of 350 dollars or less per item.
-Sports and recreation equipment of 50 dollars or less per item.
