Marine veteran snags $750K in lottery win


ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Jacksonville man who served in the Marine Corps for 20 years is now a lottery winner.

According to a release from the North Carolina Education Lottery, William Parks Jr. won $750,000 in the Jumbo Bucks scratch-ff game. He purchased the $10 ticket at the Kangaroo Express on Piney Green Road in Jacksonville. He claimed the prize earlier today in Raleigh.

“Something just told me to buy the ticket,” Parks said.

After taxes, Parks will take home $519,378. He said he plans to make a donation to his church, pay off his house and save the rest for retirement.
