Marine Corps League to meet in NC in 2010
GREENSBORO — The Marines are beginning a slow march to Greensboro.
The News & Record of Greensboro reported Monday that an estimated 4,000 to 6,000 Marines and former Marines are expected to attend the Marine Corps League 2010 national convention. North
Carolina will host the event in August 2010 for the first time in the league’s 86-year history.
Commandant Danny Bracken leads the Greater Greensboro detachment and says the event typically attracts about 2,700 attendees. Bracken says since so many Marines and former Marines live North Carolina and surrounding states, more people will be able to attend.
The 2009 national convention will be held next week in Rochester, Minn.
The league is classified as a veterans group but also includes active duty members and reservists.
