Marry Me Military couple ties the knot on Veterans Day

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — This Veterans Day was extra special for one Southport couple who tied the knot in their hometown thanks to the help of the Marry me Military organization.

“This whole thing is awesome. The community put so much work into this,” said Adam Franklin.

Samantha and Adam Franklin could not be more excited to be man and wife.

“For it to actually happen, like to actually be married. And then for the big party after,” said Samantha.

“Just so I can call her my wife,” said Adam.

The couple has been together for five years.

“He’s going to kill me for saying this. But he says that we met at Sunset Slush where we worked together but the first time I ever talked to him, where I remember talking to him, he messaged me on Facebook and was like ‘Hey you should hit me up sometime.'” said Samantha.

But Adam is in the Air Force so although they’ve spent five years together, they’ve also spent some time apart.

“A lot of ups and downs. We were only together for I think eight months when he left for basic,” Samantha said.

“A little hectic at times because I can be gone six months, and that’s hard on anybody but she’s so strong,” Adam said.

Thanks to the Marry Me Military organization, the couple was able to make all their wedding dreams a reality.

“It’s been four months and if I would have planned it by myself I would not be here right now, I would be in a mental hospital if it wasn’t for Wendy and Marry Me Military,” Samantha said.

And now the Franklin’s say they are ready to begin their lives together.

“I tell people all the time, you know, I’m 23 years old but my life’s just now starting,” said Adam.
